INTEGRITY, PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE, CULTURAL DIVERSITY
Since 1981, STIBC members provide high-quality professional services in translation and interpretation.
And since 2015, certified translators and certified interpreters benefit from occupational title protection in British Columbia.
STIBC is a not-for-profit organization affiliated to the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), the umbrella organization for the associations of translators and interpreters across the country.
STIBC enables British Columbia’s multi-cultural population to flourish unimpeded by language barriers through its valued, internationally-recognized translation, interpretation, and terminology professionals
Our Mission: to promote the interests of BC translators and interpreters and to serve the public by observing a Code of Ethics with which all members are required to comply with and by setting and maintaining high professional standards through education and certification.
Our head office is situated on the traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. We are thankful that we are able to create, collaborate and work here. We support efforts to sustain a relationship with Indigenous peoples based on respect, dignity, trust and cooperation, in the process of advancing truth and reconciliation. We are looking forward to see STIBC members working with these languages.
