- Fill in our online Student Member Application Form: Click here to complete the form.
- Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of $150 + tax that can be paid online by credit card, or mailed to us by cheque or cash.
- Once you have applied, you will receive a confirmation email from us asking you to submit:
- Resume (recent within the last 2 years);
- Confirmation of Enrolment letter from your school’s Registrar.
- STIBC will advise you if you meet the admission requirements as a Student Member. If you are admitted to the Society, you will receive a Student Member card that is valid for the length of your course.
- As a student member you have one year from the time you graduate your program to contact STIBC with your updated resume, proof of graduation, and reference letter showing 50% of the word count or interpreting hours.
If you have not contacted STIBC to become an Associate member within one year of your graduation, then you will be required to submit the full application. This means that instead of the 50% word count or interpreting hours, you must submit the full requirement for Associate membership. You can find the full requirement list by clicking here.
Students who are Canadian citizens or have their permanent residency card have one year from the time of graduation to apply for Associate Membership.
Please note, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in order to upgrade to an Associate Member. If you are an International student, you must contact STIBC within 6 months of your graduation to discuss your situation and show evidence that you have begun your application for Canadian permanent residency.
